Dr. Rhoda Peter Asuquo

Rhoda Peter Asuquo is a young medical doctor currently practising with the Akwa Ibom State Hospitals Management Board. She is the founder of Sickle Cell Warriors’ Care and Healthy Living Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals living with sickle cell disorder through advocacy, support, research, and community engagement. She is deeply passionate about transforming the narrative of public health in Nigeria,hence her pursuit of a Masters degree in public health. Her interests include research, data-driven solutions, the application of artificial intelligence in health, and genomics. Rhoda is research-driven and firmly believes that sustainable advancements in health both in Nigeria and beyond are rooted in robust research, innovation, and evidence-based solutions. An author of health-focused books for children, she is also an advocate and health promoter through her platform, Health with Dr R, where she simplifies health information and promotes preventive care. She currently serves as the Publicity Secretary of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Akwa Ibom State Branch. Beyond medicine and advocacy, Rhoda is a professional MC. She is an alumna of SICSS–Calabar 2023 and the Host of SICSS Nigeria 2026– The Uyo Experience.

Juliet Inyang is affiliated with the University of Calabar, Nigeria and the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Her research interests are in the areas of work and employment, international marketing, consumer culture, service innovation, process improvement, digital transformations, and sustainable development. Juliet participated in the 2022 SICSS-Paris location and coordinated the SICSS Calabar 2023 and 2024 locations in Nigeria.

Yohanna Joseph Waliya is a PhD Scholar at the University of Lagos. He obtained M.A. French Studies (Twitterature;Twitterbot poetry) at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He is a Nigerian digital poet, distant writer, ludokinetic writer, novelist, playwright, python programmer, winner of the Janusz Korczak Prize for Global South 2020, Electronic Literature Organization Research Fellow, UNESCO Janusz Korczak Fellow, Creator & Curator of MAELD and ADELD [2022 Emerging Open Scholarship Award: Honourable mention by The Canadian Social Knowledge Institute (C-SKI)], Executive Director of AELA& ADELI , International Association for Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Conference on Web and Social Media [ICWSM ] Scholar 2021-2022, Scrimba Scholar 2022-2023, and Hastac Scholar 2021-2023. He writes in English and French. Augustine is featured in the AD Scientific index , he has built a reputation for academic excellence and innovation. Known for his strong team spirit and cross-border research engagements, he actively collaborates with scholars globally, contributing to impactful projects in AI and data science. Passionate about mentorship and education, he is deeply committed to training the next generation of data scientists and AI engineers, helping to shape the future of intelligent systems through collaboration, innovation, and teaching as a university lecturer. Having participated in the 2022 SICSS-Covenant location, Augustine actively contributes to enriching computational social science expertise of Nigerian scholars and researchers who participates in the SICSS Nigeria (Calabar, Uyo) since 2023.

Prof. Timothy A. Ekwere is a Professor of Haematology at the University of Uyo/University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. He is a Clinician-Scientist with established expertise in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Haemoglobinopathies, and Haemato-Oncology. His work integrates clinical care, public health and translational research to advance evidence-based management of blood disorders, particularly in resource-limited settings. He holds the MBBCh, MSc (Public Health) and PhD in Haematology, and has published widely in local and international peer-reviewed journals.

Prof. Tunde Ope-Davies

Professor Tunde Ope-Davies stands as a pioneering figure in African digital humanities scholarship. As Founder-Director of the Centre for Digital Humanities at the University of Lagos; the first such centre in Africa. He has established crucial infrastructure for computational approaches to humanities research on the continent. His scholarly expertise spans corpus linguistics, discourse analysis, applied linguistics, digital culture, and decolonial digital humanities methodologies. Professor Ope-Davies brings particular focus to African discourse studies and humanities scholarship by examining political, health and environmental discursive practices through digital lenses. His work consistently explores the intersection of materiality and digitality in African contexts, investigating how digital technologies can transform humanities data, preserve and amplify indigenous knowledge systems. Beyond academia, Professor Ope-Davies has demonstrated significant leadership in public service, having served six years as Senior Special Assistant to both the Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State (2007-2013). He also contributed governance expertise through two terms on the Governing Council of Anchor University, Lagos (2017-2025). His international recognition includes prestigious fellowships: the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in Germany and a Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of Westminster, reflecting the global significance of his research contributions. Professor Ope-Davies recently celebrated a major academic milestone, the public launch of seven scholarly volumes including the first full length book on Digital Humanities from Africa titled: “Digital Humanities: Basic Approaches to Principles, Perspectives and Practices”, at the University of Lagos in November 2025. He brings into any project, years of illustrious service, expertise and experience in managing international grants and organizing highly impact and productive scholarly events.

Prof. Aniekan Monday Abasiattai

Professor Aniekan Monday Abasiattai is a Professor of Obstetrics/Gynaecology at the University Of Uyo. He joined the University of Uyo as a Lecturer 1 in 2004 and the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in the same year as an Honorary Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist. He was promoted Chief Honorary Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist in the University Teaching Hospital in 2011 and Professor of Obstetrics/ Gynaecology in 2016. .
He currently serves as the Chairman, Health Research/ Ethics Committee of the University of Uyo Teaching. He is also the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital Coordinator, WHO Maternal and Perinatal Database Project, the Vice Chairman 1, Akwa Ibom State Maternal, Perinatal and Child Deaths Surveillance and Response (MPCDSR) Committee, the Chairman, Committee for the Review of the Akwa Ibom State Essential Medicines list, the Chairman, Membership Curriculum Review Committee of the Faculty of Obstetrics/Gynaecology, West African College of Surgeons, Member of the Faculty Board of Obstetrics/Gynaecology of the West African College of Surgeons and was a Member WHO Global Maternal and Neonatal Sepsis Initiative. He is an examiner at both the Membership and Fellowship examinations of the West African College of Surgeons and an external examiner to several Medical schools in Nigeria. Professor Abasiattai is a National Trainer and Core facilitator on Malaria Case Management, and Trainer of trainers on the following: Prevention of Mother to Child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV; Post Abortion Care; Quality assessment in Medical Education; Proposal, Dissertation and Casebook assessment and Prevention and management of Postpartum Haemorrhage. He is also an Evaluator for Internal quality evaluation of Reproductive health services for Population Services International.
He is a member of the editorial board and an editorial adviser of several international and National peer-reviewed journals, and has published over 125 journal articles as well as 11 book chapters.

Moses Udoisoh PhD is a seasoned Physicist and Thermofluids Engineer trained in Nigeria and Australia. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Physics. He is fast becoming the first Researcher in Molecular and Medicinal Biophysics in the Nigerian state. He recently led a team of Scientist to discover the Stokes-Induced Stark Effect (SISE), as a potential solution for several interfacial interaction issues like Chronic diabetic foot ulcers. As a Scientist with theoretical and computational approaches, he applies the concepts of Quantum and Molecular Mechanics to physical problems in biological spaces.
He is the Author of Fundamentals of University Physics and the Lead Scientist at Gamma Data Analytics and Computation.

Dr. J. Nathan Matias is a computer scientist and social scientist who organizes citizen behavioral science for a safer, fairer, more understanding Internet. A Guatemalan-American, Nathan is founder of the Citizens and Technology Lab, an assistant professor in the Cornell University Department of Communication, and field member in Information Science.
Nathan is founder of the Citizens and Technology Lab, a public-interest research group at Cornell that organizes citizen behavioral science and behavioral consumer protection research for digital life. CAT Lab has worked with communities of tens of millions of people on reddit, Wikipedia, and Twitter to test ideas for preventing harassment, broadening gender diversity on social media, responding to human/algorithmic misinformation, managing political conflict, and auditing social technologies.
Nathan is also a pioneer in industry-independent evaluations on the impact of social technologies and artificial intelligence in society. Toward this end, he co-founded the Coalition for Independent Technology Research, a nonprofit that supports and defends independent research on technology and society.

Bastian (he/him) is an interdisciplinary researcher working on the theory and practice of co-created participatory science and peer production. His work intersects with open source/science technologies and how they can be in service of individuals & communities that want to engage in knowledge production, bringing together applied and theoretical methods from computer/data science, human-computer-interaction and critical science & technology studies.
Bastian’s prior academic postings include being a senior researcher at the Alan Turing Institute in London and being the team-lead of the Peer-Produced Research Lab as part of an INSERM unit at Université Paris Cité. His academic journey started in biology/bioinformatics, with a PhD on how symbiotic relationships influence genomic evolution.
In the realm of participatory science, he was the co-founder and lead of openSNP, a crowdsourced/citizen science open data project that ran between 2011-2025. Since 2017, he also acts as the Director of Research for Open Humans – a non-profit that provides digital & social infrastructures for individual & community-driven citizen science and self-research.

Dr. Christie Divine Akwaowo is a Consultant Public Health Physician, Lecturer.and Researcher in Health Management, Policy and Global Health. She is an Associate Professor in University of Uyo and currently the Deputy CMAC and Director for Research and Training in the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital. Dr. Christie is a graduate of the University of Calabar, Nigeria, London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Christie Akwaowo is a Fellow of the Kofi Annan Global Public Health Leadership Program. She is also a Fellow of the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria. She’s an avid researcher and advocate for Universal Health Coverage. As Director, Institute of Health Research and Development UUTH, she seeks to strengthen and institutionalize research, forging collaborations across international boundaries.
Besides, she has worked at the grassroot level, training Community Health Workers for the Nigerian Health system. Her passion for health systems strengthening, research and capacity development in public health sets her apart as a Global Health Researcher. Her current research interests are on implementation research, design and adoption of e-health and technologies for improved access to health for the rural poor and innovative models on how to engage the informal sectors of the economy for health insurance and other safety mechanisms to ensure Universal Health Coverage.

Joseph David is a Research Associate at Preston Consults, Abuja. His research sits at the intersection of public finance, and the political economy of corruption, money laundering, and the underground economy in resource-rich developing economies. His current work examines how institutional and political factors, such as corruption and political affiliation, shape the economic efficiency of intergovernmental fiscal transfers in transfer-dependent subnational units of a resource-rich economy. Joseph applies computational social science methods to a range of applied research questions. He is an alumnus of SICSS, having participated in SICSS-Covenant 2022.

In recognition of his significant impact, Mr. Johnson was honored with the Akwa Ibom State Productivity Order of Merit Award in ICT in September 2022. Dr. Akaninyene Mark is an outstanding Consultant Physician in Public Health, Planning Research, Statistics and Community Medicine. He is an Associate Fellow National Postgraduates Medical College. Dr. Mark is a distinguished scholar, researcher, and mentor, serving in various capacities including Senior Research Fellow and Director/Dean of the Afromed Academy of Medical Research, ICT and Innovation, Zambia. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Frontline Professionals Journal (FPJ); and associate Fellow/ Reviewer Science Publishing group, Visiting Adjunct Senior Consultant at Somacas Medical Center, Ghana.
He is academic giant and thorough-bred mentor, he has supervised and continues to inspire postgraduate in Nigeria and Master’s students across Nigeria and Africa.
His dedication to health planning, research, ethics, and community medicine has left indelible marks on the practice of medicine and beyond.
He is currently the Deputy Director Health Planning Research and Statistics in the Akwa ibom state Ministry of Health Uyo and a consultant par excellence.

Hilary Ogali is a civil engineer, project manager, and open knowledge enthusiast who joined the Wikimedia movement in 2022 as a volunteer editor. He currently serves as the Project Manager for Wiki In Africa's Wiki Loves Africa media campaign and is a member of the Wiki Loves Monuments International (WLM-i) team. Hilary also leads the Igbo Wikimedians Commons Hub as Community Lead, serves as Programs Manager for the Igala Wikimedia Community, and is a member of the Programs Team of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group. Passionate about open knowledge, Wikimedia Commons, and community development, he works with volunteers and communities across Africa to strengthen participation in Wikimedia projects, promote the documentation of African culture and heritage, and support the growth of sustainable Wikimedia communities.

Chinonso Chidi is a biomedical scientist, researcher, and open knowledge enthusiast. He joined the Wikimedia movement in 2020, now a Wikipedia administrator, and Projects/Programs Manager for Wikimedia Projects. He’s also on the Wiki Loves Monuments International (WLM-i) team, and a Wiki Loves Africa 2026 Ambassador. In 2025, he was Wikimedian-in-Residence at Code for Africa’s African Wikipedian Alliance, leading the Inclusion and Climate Justice project which focused on closing content gaps on Wikipedia and its sister projects on core topics relating to gender equity and climate awareness in Southern Africa.

Andikan Eduok is a graphic designer, Community and Social Media Manager, and Wikimedian passionate about open knowledge, digital inclusion, and community building.
She is the Founder and Lead of the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria – Akwa Ibom Network, where she leads initiatives that promote knowledge equity and strengthen Wikimedia communities in Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure and Industrial Chemistry from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She served as a Wikimedian-in-Residence with Code for Africa's African Wikipedian Alliance, where she led the EmpowerHer project, an initiative focused on closing the gender gap and increasing the visibility of African women on Wikipedia and Wikidata. The project supported efforts to bridge content gaps by documenting the achievements of women across sectors, with particular emphasis on underrepresented regions including the Sahel, neighbouring West Africa, and the Horn of Africa.
Andikan is a past Africa Wiki Women Fellow. She later served as the Administrative Co-Lead for Africa Wiki Women, supporting the growth and coordination of the continental community.
Through her work, she empowers communities to contribute to open knowledge, preserve language, cultural heritage, and leverage technology for social impact through collaboration, capacity building, and digital knowledge initiatives.

Dr. Bianca Uzoamaka Mbonu-Adigwe is a Lecturer in Science Education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with expertise in technology-integrated learning, teacher education, and inclusive teaching practices. She is passionate about mentoring educators and young leaders, having founded platforms that provide mentorship and practical learning opportunities across Africa. Through her volunteer initiatives, she has supported over 3,000 girls in rural communities with books and hygiene products. Bianca is a Visiting Research Assistant with IEEE, University of Chichester, UK, and has completed professional training with institutions including the University of Colorado Boulder, DAAD, Michigan State University, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Emmanuel Elikplim is an early-career researcher and accounting professional based in Ilorin, Nigeria, affiliated with the University of Ilorin and Abel Aiyedogbon & Co. (Chartered Accountants). As a Charter Member of the Association of Ranking Professionals (ARP), his research interests lie at the intersection of corporate governance, institutional performance, and data-driven transparency. He specializes in evaluating board characteristics and corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosures. As an upcoming researcher, he is building his skills in research and data analysis to enhance empirical research.

Nyitse Daniel is a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at the Nigeria French Language Village (Inter-University Centre for French Studies), Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently a PhD student at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. His research in contrastive linguistics examines the pedagogical exigencies of the structural and functional values of pronouns in French and Tiv. His academic interests also extend to semantics and semiotics, areas in which he has published several scholarly articles. In addition, he is the contributor and legal owner of Tiv language datasets on the Mozilla Data Collective (MDC).

She is particularly interested in how language, culture, identity, and power relations shape the production and reception of translated texts within African literary contexts.

Tolulope Deborah Iredele is a post-graduate student at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is a budding scholar interested in the intersection of digital humanities, corpus linguistics, and sociopolitical discourse analysis with several publications to her credit. Her ongoing Ph.D. research focuses on "Female-health public advocacy on social media using a corpus-based approach." Her expectation attending SICSS is to build strong capacity in using digital tools to enhance solution-driven computational humanities research. She hopes to explore large-scale social media data to generate actionable industry/policy instrument "APPified" for pain evaluation and trauma-responsive care leveraging discourse.

Wendyam Fulbert ILBOUDO is a PhD candidate in Geography (Demography) at Joseph KI-ZERBO University, Burkina Faso, and Technical Assistant Demographer at the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD). His research focuses on the spatial dynamics of multidimensional poverty inequalities in peri-urban Ouagadougou, combining spatial statistics, Big Data, and geospatial methods. He also teaches statistics and biostatistics at IFRISSE. His research interests include computational approaches to poverty measurement,small area estimation, and the use of non-conventional data sources to study urban inequality in Africa.

He serves as Director of Finance and Budget Planning at The Adams Project Africa and State Coordinator for Boys Reach Out Worldwide. With a B.Pharm and M.Sc in Clinical & Biopharmacy from University of Uyo, plus certifications from Google, Gamma Analytics, and Cisco, his research interests span global health advocacy, prostate cancer epidemiology, and modern therapeutic management using machine learning, health data analysis, personal development, and youth mentorship through his “Catch Them Young and Watch Them Grow Initiative.

My research interests are Haemato-oncology, Haemoglobinopathy, Haemostasis, Transfusion Medicine and Bone Marrow Transplant. I am currently an Associate Professor in University of Uyo, Head of Department and Vice Dean, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences with several peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals and have a Scopus presence.

Itoro Umoren is a PhD student in Medical Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Uyo, and serves as the Program Monitoring and Evaluation Manager at Women in Total Girls' Development (WiT-GIRL). She holds a B.Sc. in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and served as an MSc Research Fellow on the WaSH and Gender Project funded by IHE Delft between 2023-2024. Her research interests include public health and water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH). She is particularly interested in using quantitative data and evidence-based approaches to understand public health challenges and improve programme outcomes in underserved communities.

Fenson Emem-Obong Uko is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. His doctorate study focuses on Demography with major in Demographic Health. ‎ ‎His research interests are rooted in demographic health and statistics with particular focus on maternal health inequalities. ‎ ‎My current research examines the accessibility and quality of maternal healthcare services utilized by women with disabilities who often face layered barriers like physical, social, and institutional impediments.

Yemisi Popoola is a graduate of Demography and Social Statistics from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Nigeria. She is working with a non-profit organization focused on improving access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for underserved populations in Oyo State, Nigeria. Her research interests include maternal and child health, health inequities, and the social and behavioural determinants of healthcare utilization. She is particularly interested in applying data-driven strategies to understand maternal health-seeking behaviours and inform evidence-based interventions that improve healthcare access and reduce maternal mortality in underserved communities.

Alabi Temitope Emmanuel is a First-Class graduate of Biotechnology from the Federal University of Technology Akure and a researcher at Computer-Aided Therapeutics Discovery and Design (CAT2D). His research interests include computational drug discovery, bioinformatics, molecular biology, genomics, and infectious disease research. He has experience in molecular docking, QSAR modeling, ADMET prediction, and molecular dynamics simulations. His work focuses on identifying biological targets and novel therapeutic candidates through the integration of data analytics, computational methods, and experimental approaches to address pressing global health challenges.

Dr. Gospel Nukoaka Lebari is a political science lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science (specialising in Development Studies) from the University of Port Harcourt. His research interests lie in environmental politics, elections and election management, Africa’s indigenous knowledge systems and their impact on sustainable development, particularly within the context of Nigeria's resource-rich Niger Delta. His growing body of work explores how political and ecological dynamics and contradictions shape governance, community resilience, and resource management. Dr. Lebari aspires to contribute significantly to both academic discourse and practical solutions in Africa.
